Fixed Orthodontic Appliances Hands-On Workshop, Sydney (12 CPD hr)

9th-10th May 2025

BOSS Fixed Appliances Hands-On Workshop on 9th -10th May 2025 in Sydney will allow a dentist or orthodontist  to master the skills required to treat patients with these appliances, especially as a supplement to clear aligner treatments. This 2-day workshop reduces the need to do long and expensive fixed orthodontics CPD programs to learn the basic practical skills to bond brackets, change archwires, ligate, prepare anchorage and fabricate archwire springs as an adjunct to clear aligner treatments.

Best suited to: BOSS Diploma graduates, active diploma participant or dentists with intermediate experience in clear aligner treatments.

The fixed appliance workshop will be over two days in Sydney and have practical lectures and hands-on workshop for:

  • Bracket positioning and direct bracket bonding on typodonts
  • Indirect bonding of brackets on typodonts and demo of DIBS Ai digital portal.
  • Archwire ligation techniques.
  • Anchorage preparation techniques – tip back bends, lacebacks.
  • Understanding Instrumentation and auxiliaries available for fixed appliances such as coils, springs and elastics.
  • Archwire bending (1st, 2nd and 3rd order bends), including fabricating molar uprighting springs and canine extrusion springs.
  • Designing a maxillary expander device and bending utility arches for mixed dentition

Cost includes all workshop materials, typodonts and a sample of orthodontic instruments. All prices are in AUD and 10% GST applies. This fee is not refundable. Credit note for 75% of fee can be provided if cancellation notice of at least 90 days is given prior to the event start date, 50% with 60-90 days notice and 0% 0-60 days. Credit notes expire in 12 mon and can be used for any BOSS courses or future events.

  • I started this course unsure of how much I would benefit. The in-person lectures were fantastic (although the course is now 100% online) where I made good friends and learned a lot. The online resources are extensive and second to none, accessible at your convenience. The webinars were great – usually with the right mix of teaching, cases demonstrated and the attendees’ cases being discussed. I was also invited to deliver a webinar on intra-oral scanners, 3D printers and in house aligner manufacturing (from a dentist’s point of view) – which I enjoyed.
    Most of all the course gave significantly more confidence what can be done with aligners, how plan the setup efficiently with the end in mind and how to make the processes to get there smoother. As a result, a MUCH larger chunk of my work is now aligner based. My conversion rate for aligner treatments has definitely increased along with my confidence. The course has easily paid for itself.
