After a tumultuous 2020 beset by disruption, the team behind the UK and Australian accredited Registered Training Organisation – BOSS (Best Orthodontic Seminars and Sessions Pty Ltd), aka The Digital Orthodontic College, has now launched it’s newly accredited and innovative qualification.

Getting the diploma accredited by the UK and Australia has been no small feat, with countless hours of work over three years going into the process. This monumental exercise in navigating administrative hurdles has made the achievement even more rewarding for the course creator, one of the leading Digital Specialist Orthodontist – Dr Vandana Katyal.

Local and international recognition

In 2019 Dr Katyal was honoured to have the Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics approved for accreditation by the UK awarding body EduQual – this was the first 100% online orthodontic qualification that was flexible, practical and innovative with a strong focus clear aligner treatments and latest technologies. In 2021, she is pleased to announce that the Australian industry has joined the UK in recognising the highest standards embodied in the course.

Discussing the Australian accreditation, Dr Katyal said; “This is a really important development for the current diploma and for the Australian dental industry. With increasing demand for dentists to deliver certain orthodontic services such as clear aligners and advances in technologies in this field, domestic accreditation for the course provides dental practitioners with the confidence to invest in their professional development, safe in the knowledge that what they are learning is both highly practical and of the highest quality”.

Dr Katyal is the first orthodontist in Australia to receive such an industry stamp of recognition. Dr Katyal is also proud to be the first female orthodontist in the world to receive a national and international accreditation for the course.

I completed the AU course at the end of last year and can honestly say BOSS (now Digital Orthodontic College) has completely changed my approach to clear aligner treatments and increased my confidence with treatment planning immensely.   • I started this course unsure of how much I would benefit. The in-person lectures were fantastic (although the course is now 100% online) where I made good friends and learned a lot. The online resources are extensive and second to none, accessible at your convenience. The webinars were great – usually with the right mix of teaching, cases demonstrated and the attendees’ cases being discussed. I was also invited to deliver a webinar on intra-oral scanners, 3D printers and in house aligner manufacturing (from a dentist’s point of view) – which I enjoyed.
